Meeting notices

  • FINOS Project leads are responsible for observing the FINOS guidelines for running project meetings. Project maintainers can find additional resources in the FINOS Maintainers Cheatsheet.

Meeting Minutes

  • The proposal for a DEI Community event series, presented by Sam, was reviewed.
    • Hosting in-person events, starting in New York City, with potential expansion to other locations and virtual formats later.
  • Outlined the roles and responsibilities of the DEI SIG and FINOS Ambassadors.
  • The group discussed the need to update the DEI SIG microsite and recruit volunteers with CMS experience to help with content creation and web development.
  • The group reviewed the goals set in January/February 2024 and discussed progress.
  • The need to recruit more active contributors to the DEI SIG was highlighted.
  • The group discussed planning the DEI event series for the next year, including identifying potential topics, speakers, and formats.
  • The potential of organizing events in collaboration with Grace Hopper or other relevant organizations was explored.
  • A call with Amanda Hill-Atkisson, former VP Programming at Anita B, was proposed to discuss potential strategies and best practices for DEI initiatives.
  • The group agreed to develop a proposal for the future of the DEI SIG, including its strategic goals and alignment with the FINOS overall objectives.

Action Items

DEI Event Series

  • Peter Smulovics and Sam Moorhouse will develop a draft event calendar for 2025, including a potential January event in New York City.
  • Peter Smulovics and Sam Moorhouse will engage existing ambassadors and potentially recruit new ones through the DEI SIG.
  • Rimma Perelmuter will reach out to Chanel from the Grace Hopper Open Source Day to explore presenting at a future DEI event based on her excellent presentation at the Grace Hopper virtual open source event.
  • Karl Moll will share insights and materials from the Grace Hopper Open Source Day that could be adapted for the DEI Event Series.

DEI SIG Microsite

  • Recruit a volunteer with CMS experience to help with content creation and website development.
  • Send out an email to the community inviting contributions to the microsite.
  • Consider incorporating videos from previous events, such as those created by James.

DEI SIG Goals Review

  • Follow up with co-chairs to get updates on progress towards aligning with FINOS accessibility initiatives.

2025 Planning

  • SIG Co-Chairs to meet ahead and review year-end progress/plans for 2025.

Recruiting Doers for the SIG

  • Develop a strategy to recruit and engage more active contributors to the DEI SIG.
