Meeting Minutes

  • Suggestions to review the tangible and practical steps from the recent panel discussion.

    • Asked if James would continue to be involved in the follow-up work related to these steps.
    • James confirmed to contribute to the follow-up efforts.
  • Rimma plans to write a blog highlighting the practical steps from the panel discussion and invited interested members to participate.

    • Interested members to contact Rimma to express interest in contributing to the panel next steps and best practices.
    • BMO to collaborate on London session at BMO.
  • Paula presented the latest draft agenda for the Grace Hopper Open Source Day.

    • Proposed the idea of virtual watching parties for those who cannot attend the event live.
    • James suggested documenting and sharing the event’s impact through photos or social media, to broaden the reach of the event.
    • Mentioned that Grace Hopper might provide recordings of sessions for internal use, and suggested checking if this is possible.
    • Proposed idea of virtual watching parties for those who cannot attend the event live.
    • Sergio to check with Citi on the possibility of having FINOS at their booths during Grace Hopper.
    • Suggested making sure that future events also engage directly with the target communities, not just peer institutions.
  • Rimma Perelmuter and Kajal: Develop a refined events strategy that aligns with DEI goals and includes local working groups and themes for future events. Start with activities in NYC and London for the Fall given we are also executing GHC.

Action Items

  • Rimma to draft a blog post about the panel discussion’s tangible outcomes.
  • BMO to connect James with contact for the London session planning.
  • Sergio to check with Citi on the possibility of having FINOS at their booths during Grace Hopper.
  • Potential locations for the meetup and highlighted the opportunity to draw interesting audiences.
  • Paula Paul: Record sessions and explore virtual scholarships for the event.
  • James McLeod: Coordinate with the team to capture and share content from the event.
  • Proposed: Organize a live meetup in Philadelphia on October 7th the Monday before the Grace Hopper Conference.
  • Rimma and Paula to finalize arrangements for the live meetup and explore potential venues.
  • Reviewed current DEI event strategies and proposed rethinking the approach to focus on knowledge transfer, networking, and best practices.
  • James to provide input on events reaching and benefitting target communities.
