Since you're on NixOS, I'd suspect it might be a packaging issue. Fcitx need to be able load the compose table to make dead key works. Can you install strace and run
On my system, it will shows something like: Also there's a relevant fix in 5.0.20+ f379e42 which makes it always load the compose table even if the locale is not valid. Though I don't think that is the case on your system because your locale setting seems to be fine. |

As I mentioned it also happened before switching to NixOS (previously Manjaro) it also occurred so I'm not sure its a packaging issue, anyways Ill send the output once I'm back on my machine |

well, you didn’t mention you were on manjaro. Which dead key doesn’t work for you? is it just one app that’s not working or all of them? so far I tried it on a debian system at least dead ' works here. 69138068140__10B2525D-CFEE-4E21-B401-CA9AB4FBD494.MOValso I’d like to point out that how dead key composing looks like changed in some recent version, if you don’t want the preedit style, you can change the option in “keyboard”. |

All the dead keys work in other apps, just not in firefox, also i installed from manjaro official repos |

That's interesting. Can you run fcitx5-diagnose on manjaro while firefox is running instead? Does it work in any other gtk3 app (if you don't know any, try gtk3-demo-application)? Also, does the deak key works differently in firefox address bar and web page? does mozc works in firefox? Also are you sure that you already switched to us-alt-intl when trying it? I saw you have layout without dead key configured as inactive state and a separate layout with dead key as an active item. (Í'm not familiar with keyboard-bg-bas_phonetic, but I just tested with dead key in us-alt-intl and it works here)
I just wonder if you may want to do something like this instead? |
im back on manjaro (for other reasons), and wait thats not dead keys that you have selected, also mozc works pretty much everywhere, also and on manjaro i though it worked in gtk apps, but apparently not maybe thats it? Does work in QT just fine. Also just works nowhere in firefox, on manjaro the deadkeys dont even send dead key chars, or upper chars (but not on NixOS) in gtk apps. |

@yavko Sorry, I’m confused about your situation. Does it work in other non firefox gtk app or not? Also, if you are back to manjaro, please run fcitx5-diagnose again on manjaro. |

Dead keys doesn't work in firefox, when i type '/`/^/etc. they're sent normally,
though mozc works just fine, so idk why its just dead keys. Also this
happened even after I distro hopped to NixOS.
