Unexpected behaviour of detectron2's visualizer

Hello there, recently while working with detectron2 i realized that whatever format of mask we send to the visualizer it anyhow changes that to polygons, for ex-> be it rle or a binary mask it gets converted to polygons inside before the mask appears. Why so?? I still cannot grasp the need of doing that!!
