builds based solely on version numbers is not ideally, mainly because we want the README (and other documentation) to change without triggering a new release.

A new CircleCI + pom configuration is in place to allow more fine grained control over the CI process. I think we will probably go for bump2version to automate the version bumping (as gitsemver seems to be a gradle only thing)
