Somehow combined with logger, display somehow when contacts last logged in and sort them so you can see who hasn't been available for a long time. This way you can determine contacts who probably you don't need anymore, because they're dead or just changed their address.

The problem with doing that analysis using your own logs is that it's possible that you were online only when the other person was offline or you might be just blocked for some reason or the person has set it's status as offline.
