Is there a way to know that the kernel is running a cell/has finished running it? #541

In VScode there's a running timer on the currently running cell, and a checkmark once its done. This is super helpful for long-running tasks. Is there an equivalent? Is it possible to make one?

Thanks!

Hey! Issue #538 is related somehow. There is a recent feature that locks the running cell, changing its appearance, so that you cannot modify it and know that the kernel is running it.
Hope this helps
