Far2l Releases Date before Ubuntu 25.04 Debian Import Freeze

Usually maintainer need at least 10 days to submit to Debian and then transfer from sid to testing.

@elfmz and @alexmyczko tell your opinion about appropriate far2l release date.

@alexmyczko If release is on before February 10 will that be enough days to guarantee that deb packages will be in Debian by February 20 or do you need more days?

10 days is plenty enough, what are the upcing changes?

what i am missing is a config file launch option. i always want far2l and far2ledit be launched with -an --tty

i am aware of aliases but prefer to avoid them.

I can think about making command line options in the config, I also think it is important. but until elfmz accepts pr there is little sense in this

Since #2439 processing of environment FAR2L_ARGS was repair. You can set global environment FAR2L_ARGS="-an --tty" and far2l at start will be use it values.

• significant for packaging upstream changes after 2.6.4 release:

  • Removed PCRE library dependencies (after Removed PCRE library support #2525 )
  • Different desktop files for launch WX (GUI) --notty and TTY --tty (after Use separate desktop files for TTY and GUI versions #2573 and Rename desktop files, so that far2l.desktop is the WX version #2597 )

• and very useful MR from @mitya57 for Debain packaging https://salsa.debian.org/debian/far2l/-/merge_requests/3

Their implementation may require additional time.

We are now past the import freeze, but if a new release is soon (e.g. in February or first half of March), it will be still possible to copy package from Debian to Ubuntu manually.

i am just waiting for a new release... the mr is fine however did not want another source tarball as that would require changes in copyright... so just waiting for it
