Shred trash

Would be nice to see a shred button in the trash folder to overwrite files you want to delete for security. Only issue I'd see is you wouldn't want to use shred on a SSD so maybe provide a warning to only use on a HDD.

Actually just noticed a delete permanently button when right clicking a file in trash. If this does what I think it does then this can be closed. Just wasn't as obvious that it may already be a feature.

"Delete permanently" just deletes the file from the trash - it cannot be undone with <Ctrl>Z. It does not shred the file.

What would a solution look like for people who use SSDs? Otherwise the target group is very limited and the feature rather exclusive. And why is shred problematic for SSDs?

If I understand correctly, they also use Nautilus-wipe.
Nautilus-wipe and libgsecuredelete unfortunately released the last version 0.3 three years ago. So it doesn't look as if the packages will be further developed/updated.

SSD have limited write cycles. The more writes you do to the same blocks, the faster you wear it out.

Is a technical reason also that the data cannot be securely overwritten with shred?
Do you know alternative approaches that would be interesting for Files here? For SSD as well as for HDD users.
