TraCI request to get neighboring vehicles

Hello,

I'm having problems executing and getting the response of a TraCI request to get the neighbors of a vehicle.
So, I was wondering if anyone knows how to get this value.

Not sure if my REQUEST is right, but I can execute it without errors:

    final byte TRACI_COMMAND = (byte) 0xa4;  // Bits Traci Command (0xa4 for vehicle value retrieval)
    final byte TRACI_VARIABLE = (byte) 0xbf; // Bits Traci Variable Identifier (0xbf for neighbors)
    final byte TRACI_TYPE = (byte) 0x07; // ubyte
    final byte MODE = (byte) 2^1; //mode(bitset)

    try {
        dos.writeByte(TRACI_COMMAND);
        dos.writeByte(TRACI_VARIABLE); 
        dos.writeInt(vehicleId.length()); // Length of Vehicle Identifier
        dos.write(vehicleId.getBytes(StandardCharsets.UTF_8)); // Vehicle Identifier
        dos.writeByte(TRACI_TYPE);
        dos.writeByte(MODE);
    }

And I'm using the following code to read the RESPONSE:

     try {
        byte command = dis.readByte(); // should be 0xa4 for vehicle info retrieval
        byte variableType = dis.readByte(); // should be 0xbf for neighbors
        String vehicleId = readString(dis); // vehicle for which the response is
        byte returnType = dis.readByte(); // type of response
        String ng = readString(dis); // the actual value of the response

In fact, I can get the result, but the variable ng is always empty.
Does anyone know what I'm missing?
