Info on the size of merged PE reads, histogram

Hello,

thanks for the very useful tool, I am struggling to understand why in the final histogram I find lots of extended fragments shorter than the actual read length.
In a run I only modified the default parameter with -M 40 with PE reads all 125bp long. I attach under this post the hist obtained.

I would not expect ideally sequences shorter than 210 bp but I do not understand the presence of short sequences 35 - 125 bp long.

I didn't set the --allow-outies flag so I thought that they would not be included.

I hope the author or even users could help me to better understand these points!
