I had a tab added in the settings and removed it. When trying to deploy, I got an 'Undefined array key "field"'. If I looked at the project yaml file, the file contents was only fieldLayout: null which caused the bug.

After removing the file, it was fixed but this shouldn't be the normal behaviour I think :-)
