I got most of the way through this project, but then the Live Chat developer went full time and got the xmpp chat servers federated and decentralized so it wasn't a bottleneck anymore. It's a better looking and supported option for PeerTube, there are ways to gateway it into matrix chat rooms which would probably be the best way to integrate currently.

I was also wondering what an xmpp bridge for matrix may look like. I will dig into that a bit. Thanks!
