With Ring Intercom, you get a notification from the Ring app.

If you tap it - you get a phone UI that lets you talk to the person who rang your buzzer.

Would it be possible to integrate something like this into Homekit?

This is not planned. It should theoretically be possible, but probably would have to have a fake video stream (basically, pretend to be a video doorbell) and someone would need to investigate/reverse engineer the backend as well, although I assume it would work similar to the camera video stream. As none of the maintainers of this plugin own an intercom, this is unlikely to happen unless someone else does the work and contributes a PR. If a PR is submitted, we would be willing to consider merging it, but they'd likely also need to commit to helping to maintain it.
