Load performance

On a Nexus 6/Chrome, 6-7 seconds (on a warm boot!) before seeing any data seems surprising slow.
A cold boot (from homescreen), feel more like 10 seconds.

I plugged in my phone and took a timeline of a refresh (warm boot)...

I didn't notice much change, I can do another timeline when I get back.
The webpagetest results you linked, that's only testing how fast the login page is... which isn't testing what an already logged in user trying to see news updates.
