upgraded to the lints package as pedantic is deprecated. Fixed a few lints.

All unit tests pass.
I've made the country name optional so as to not break compatibility.
Chat GPT was kind enough to generate the country names.
I note that the code is marked as 'generated' but I couldn't see the generator.
I guess its still generated given I used chat gpt to do the work :)
