Connection error after ddev update

After updating to ddev version v1.24.2, I'm running into connection issues when testing local ddev sites. Can anybody confirm this issue?

I just spun up a test website and it seems to be working for me.

The errors suggestion the your DDEV website is not available.
Can you confirm that you can access it? (ddev launch)

Did you have it working before and it suddenly stopped?
Maybe try a ddev powerdown and ddev start (and if your on windows, restart you OS).

thanks for the fast reply. Yes, I can confirm that the local pages are available.

I stopped and removed the whole DDEV project and even restarted my macOS. Yesterday I played around with xhprof and ddev-spx which created a bunch of .ddev files that I did not commit. If it's still working for you with the exact same versions, I'll have a deeper look into my setup.

I just added the addon 2 days ago and got it working. When I wanted to continue working today I get ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED as well.

This smells like hosts/DNS setup not properly working. The entrypoint.sh script should populate the /etc/hosts file inside the backstop container, but probably doesn't. From a quick read of ddev/ddev@v1.24.1...v1.24.2 i didn't see much that could cause that, but an interesting comment about wildcards: https://ddev.com/blog/ddev-name-resolution-wildcards/
Wildcards will most likely not work with the provided logic in the entrypoint script.

@maikschneider @johandenhollander do you happen to know which ddev version worked last for you?

Unfortunately no. I guess it could even be 1.23.5. Shame on me.. I looked into the backstops hosts file: The router IP is in there.
@mmunz Is it working for you with the latest DDEV version?

But admittedly, i restarted the ddev project about 10 times while testing and in 1 or 2 out of 10 the /etc/hosts file inside the backstop container was not populated with the ddev hostnames. I'm not sure yet why, because i was able to run the relevant parts from the entrypoint script manually.

i'm also not sure how to solve that yet. Maybe we need a better way to make all host names in the project known to the backstop container.

If some ddev restarts don't help, another temporary option would be to add external_links to the docker-compose.backstop.yaml file, e.g.

There were a few PRs to other addons recently to add support for multiple hostnames.
Eg. ddev-cypress: ddev/ddev-cypress#54

Yes, always multiple host names. Thats why i added that construct with the entrypoint to add all the projects hostnames in the container. Thanks for the link, i'll check out, if the method there might be less hacky and more stable.
