Hey, foremost - big thanks for your work bringing this automation to live :)

Not sure if it's me doing something wrong, or there is a bug, so let me know if it's me

What I'm trying to achieve is to set couple of scenes, one where I setup thermostats to certain manual temperature, another one when I set them to auto mode.

So I'm actually trying first to create this manual setting scene, where I set them to 25C, and mode to "Heat" (which I assume is manual, right?), and temperature to 25C (see screenshot).

So preset is set to something like null or none, and I get a corresponding message for that saying "Preset mode none is not valid. Valid preset modes are: eco, comfort, boost, away, Open."

And seems like this prevents scene from working properly, because for some reason it resets to "Auto" and hence turns my temperature from 25C to one from schedule.

Another observation is that if I try to edit a scene, let's say I want it 24C instead of 25C, it does not change - leaving me with same message right after leaving scene edit screen :(

Is it me doing something wrong, or it's a bug?

This is indeed a bug. Currently none can not be set as a preset. I will fix this once #101 is merged. Thank you for reporting!
