23.1 performance problem

23.0 and all earlyer versions run good. Version 23.1 pegs CPU and makes laptop run very hot. Also takes a long time to close, like 10 minutes. I using 86-64-linux.

Thanks for reporting this. To help us track down the performance regression, could you provide some more details?

System info:

• Which Linux distribution and version? (e.g. Ubuntu 24.04, Fedora 41)
• How much RAM does your laptop have?
• Is this a fresh install of v23.1 or an upgrade from v23.0?

Reproducing the issue:

1. CPU usage: While Dash Core is running and pegging the CPU, can you run top -p $(pgrep dashd) (or top -p $(pgrep dash-qt) if using the GUI) and share the output? We want to see the CPU % and how long it persists.
2. Debug log: The file ~/.dashcore/debug.log (or your custom datadir) will have useful info. Can you share the last ~200 lines from when the high CPU is happening? (tail -200 ~/.dashcore/debug.log)
3. Does it happen immediately on startup, or after some time? For example, does it start during initial sync, reindexing, or just when the node is caught up and idling?
4. Wallet size: Do you have a large wallet with many transactions/addresses? You can check with dash-cli getwalletinfo — the txcount and keypoolsize fields would help.
5. Indexes: Are you running with any extra indexes enabled? (Check your dash.conf for txindex=1, addressindex=1, etc.)
6. The slow shutdown — when you close, does the log show anything specific? tail -50 ~/.dashcore/debug.log right after it finally closes would be helpful.

If sharing logs publicly is a concern, you can trim out any private info (IP addresses, etc.) — we mainly need the timestamps and the operations being logged.
