Stratux config: CrewDog. Pi 3, 4 USB, Stratux GPS, Two Receivers and USB extension to TU-S9 Serial Adapter
SDR
single
dual
GPS
yes
no
type:
AHRS
yes
no
power source: Battery Pack will be 12v to 5v converter eventually (suggestions, do's and don'ts?)
usb cable: Currently tried two CP2102 (no success) and TU-S9 (success I think)
EFB app and version: Flight Plan Go (WiFi) and GRT Avionics Horizon 10.1 EFIS (RS232 wired)
EFB platform: iOS on iPad & GRT (Grand Rapids Technologies) Software Unix based on EFIS
EFB hardware: iPad Mini 5th Gen & GRT Horizon 10.1 (panel mount experimental EAB aircraft)
The EFB (WiFi, iPad, FlttPlanGo) works great. However so far have not seen the data or WX on the EFIS yet (but that may be an EFIS filter thing). Have a call into GRT. My questions are generic for my education as a newbie.... (Not I know I will not get weather due to range from towers, but have lots of traffic I see on EFB, grated a lot of that is 7K to 39K feet above. That may be the issue, BUT MY QUESTIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Q5. I tried the STRATUX style CP2102 Chip adapter first. No joy. I was told no patch was needed and it would auto configure. I bought an adapter that looks IDENTICAL to one on Stratux Store (amazon). Amazon store was sold out. Is there something special about the CP2102 USB to Serial adapter Stratux Store sells that is "PLUG and PLAY"?
Q6. TRENDnet TU-S9 USB to Serial adapter seems to work and EFIS sees it... I had to upload a PATCH from GRT and loaded it on the STRATUX via WiFi. I see data counter in settings page of EFIS. Is there a way to increase the BAUD RATE in Stratux or doesit default to a setting? (Note GRT has setting set to 115,200 baud and selected to ADS-B sentence. The GRT has 12 high speed ports.)
Note I recall the TS-S9 has CP2303 chip. The CP2102 chip board has 3 dip switches, so it can be used for TTL as well as RS232/485. I guess not all USB to RS232 converters are thee same....
Q7. Can someone explain how those "patches" work? I assume it is an addition to the OS to help it know how to handle something, like a serial port. My question CAN I REMOVE a patch I installed? Can I see the patches I installed?
