Making flush to raise an error in case of timeout

Hello there.
Is it even possible to make flush to raise an exception after specified timeout?

My initial goal is to have a mechanism to track what messages were delivered to kafka for my transactional outbox implementation.
I'm not sure how to use current API properly for stable deliveries without chances to duplicate messages sent to kafka.
