Creating Jupyter Notebooks with nbgrader in Codio

Creating a Jupyter Notebook File

From the Codio menu

  1. Select File > New File
  2. Name your file including the extension .ipynb. Codio will launch the Jupyter Notebook when you open the file.

or

Via the Jupyter Notebook Server

  1. Use the Jupyter Notebook button above to open the Jupyter Notebook server. Jupyter Menu Item

  2. Click the New button in the Jupyter server to create a new Notebook. This will open a new tab with the new Notebook.

Add Your Jupyter File to a Codio Guide to Automatically Launch the Notebook

  1. Click on the pencil in Navigation Panel on the left to create a guide Pencil

  2. Click on the wrench to change the settings Wrench

    • Click on the Page (1) tab Settings
      • Set Layout to 1 Panel without tree
      • Toggle Close Tabs to on.
    • Click on the Open Tabs (2) tab (it will prompt you to save changes)
      • Drag the Jupyter file from your file tree to the center (4)
    • Click on the Global (3) tab (it will prompt you to save changes)
      • Toggle Collapsed on Start to on.
    • Click Save and Close Setting (5)
