Cost Effective Multi Model Set Up?

The default set up is configured to use:

• Claude
• GPT
• Gemini

I'm curious as to what subscriptions people have to make this cost effective?

I know you use services that such as openrouter and opencode zen that offer multiple models on a pay as you use mechanism but I find this super expensive.

I love the idea of using different models for different tasks, just trying to find the best way of doing this.

I use GitHub Copilot Pro+ ($39/month) which gives access to multiple models (Claude Opus 4.5, GPT-5.2, Gemini 3 Pro, and more). Some models have 0x multiplier so they're essentially free to use within your plan.

For my oh-my-opencode.json config file , I built a tool that tracks my actual Copilot usage and recommends which models to assign to each agent based on cost/quality tradeoffs. It analyzes spending patterns and suggests cheaper alternatives when appropriate.

The key insight: you don't need expensive models for every task. Use fast models for exploration, premium models for complex reasoning. Copilot Pro+ makes this affordable with its flat-rate pricing and generous limits (1,500 premium requests/month).

GitHub Copilot does seem like a decent option, I do currently have a Claude Pro subscription so I could use that for the majority of it and GitHub Copilot to suppliment. Another option is using a cheaper model like GLM to suppliment Claude.

Or keep things simple and use Claude for everything.

Would love to see your copilot solution. I am also using it, although pricing seemed different than what you mentioned. Its $10/mo and 300 premium requests for Pro+. I had no other option.
