It might be possible to run connect or a connect-like framework on top of node-coap.

As a connect middleware or as an underlying transport?

node-coap can be made API compatible with the http module, so it might be
possible to use it as an underlining transport. Do you want to give it a
try? I'm accepting pull-requests on this.
