To simplify the inspection of core files generated by PostgreSQL, we propose distributing a new version of the images with a -debug suffix that includes GDB and PostgreSQL symbols.

For further details, please refer to https://wiki.debian.org/HowToGetABacktrace.

Unfortunately, the PostgreSQL base image on Docker Hub does not include an image with debug symbols (see docker-library/postgres#666).
