Current OS version: 37960

Currently, I am using nVidia Quadro 600 that has horrible idle wattage, and consumes 60W.

I am unable to install nVidia driver because of this issue.

I used to use Zotac GeForce GT710 1GB PCIe 1x that I usually use in headless servers/workstattions...idling at 20W or less. This card POST, recognized in BIOS. Can be booted into Win 10 in any slot PCIe 16x or PCIe 1x

It fails to boot into Clear Linux (old installation, or Live installer). I see no errors because I see no boot info.

If fresh installation tried...I see initial menu, but it fails afterwards...comes an error blocking rcu_node structure or something like that. Tried UTFG/RTFM...no luck.

I have purchased a new card Gainward GeForce GT710 2GB PCIe 8x. Clear Linux refuses to boot. It looks like your OS is unable to boot anything without 16x PCIe support.

UEFI mode, no errors.

Legacy mode, kernel loading....no errors.

Any suggestions, please?

If you remove the quiet argument from the kernel command line there might be some additional details about what is going on and give us some better idea of what is happening on the system.

I am unable to boot, I see black screen only.

I can boot LiveCD without UI...I can ssh, but I do not know user/pass.

Is it possible to change kernel parameters from boot menu? Grub has got "safe mode".

It seems to be related to noveau driver or so.

Does the live server image give you an active terminal?

You can change the kernel command line. It is using systemd-boot, you'll need to hit e to be able to edit the command line.

I managed to install fresh Clear Linux live server with another card...inserting the new GPU works afterwards.

It looks like there is some issue with new nVidia cards...I tried to switch off IOMMU, also this.

If I try to install again with new GPU installed...it refuses to boot. No idea why, some kernel parameter. There are no errors, it is just stuck

it looks like some HW issues. ASUS ProArt B550-Creator vs nVidia GT710 cards.

I have tried many combinations such as nomodeset, IOMMU, Legacy CBS and so on...no luck...I reinstalled with AMD GPU, then installed old Quadro 600 in 2nd PCIe slot. It works...I have lost so much time...enough is enough :o)

Observing various forums, nVidia is no go on Linux.

This might be the same issue as in #2804.
