I'm not sure how hard this would be to add, but something like VS Code where the files in the current folder could be displayed. This may take over from the file dialog box. This may also be a desktop only feature and the file dialog could stay in place for mobile. It would make it easier for folks to see what files are currently on the device. Apparently many of the other editors have this option.

I think the toughest challenge will be having it work with mobile browsers too.

I'm not completely sure this is an enhancement that will be added. The biggest issue is the screen real estate. I think it can be a side panel that pops with a higher z-index, but I'm not sure this is better than the current solution.
