Different types of modular robots can be evolved but currently, the framework is centered around the modular robot that uses bricks and hinges as its main components.

Some examples of other robot types include aerial drones, wheel, or legged-based robots.
The base core component uses a left, right, front, and back attachment scheme which may not apply to all robot types, such as one that has a continuous amount of attachment points.
