Hi,
I installed a windows host on widnows 10 Version 21H1 (Build 19043.1288), followed the use instructions and bind my builtint webcam. I attached to it from WSL2, I got a few messages in the windows side that showed that fireall and everything (including rebuild of the renel) are ok. But it failed. I tried again with a USB webcam.

  • busid 1-36 (046d:0825)
    Logitech, Inc. : Webcam C270 (046d:0825)
  • busid 1-127 (04f2:b604)
Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd : Integrated Camera (1280x720@30)
    Both did not work.
But after this, I cannot see them anymore in my device manager.
So I enabled "view hidden devices" and the driver was there but the hardware could not be detected.
I tried to uninstall the drivers. Reboot (with shift to get a deep shutdown).
    Devices are still not detected.
I also uninstalled the USBIP driver.

Still the PC cannot detect both wencams. ebem when I unplug and insert the USB webcam, it is not detected.

I tried SFc and DISM and Hardware Troubleshooting.
Still nothing,

Any idea where/what grabs these devices?

I have done a Restore checkpoint with the reboot into troubleshooing/recovery mode and the devices are back.
Scary.

Is there a procedure to do it in a simpler way?

Windows can select the wrong driver then as a result, the device disappears or has a wrong name.

all installed drivers in win 10 are registered in the registry if something went wrong during installation or Something else can happen that the wrong driver is loaded.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\DriverDatabase\DriverPackages
