We are UNPA STUDIOS, the film production company behind the movie NEW NORMAL.

Your site has information about illegal downloads of our movie.

We demand that you remove it immediately, and we ask for your cooperation in preventing this from happening in the future.

This issue is so ridiculous it's almost funny. This repo is for btdig, which uses dhtcrawler2, a decentralized crawler that indexes data from the DHT network. It doesn’t host, manage, or control what people put on the network. Complaining here is like yelling at a dictionary for listing a word you dislike.

Blocking torrents? Pointless. If you block one, users can create a new one in seconds. That’s how decentralized systems work. Blocking keywords? Even worse. It leads to false positives, and users can easily bypass it by tweaking file names (e.g., swapping letters or adding symbols). Total waste of time.

It’s clear whoever filed this issue doesn’t understand how decentralized systems or open-source projects work.. If you’re upset about illegal downloads, target the people sharing files, not this repo. This complaint is embarrassing.

Dear UNPA STUDIOS (or whoever is actually behind this laughably misguided request),

Wow. Where to begin?

First, let’s make one thing abundantly clear: there is no pirated content in this repository. None. Zero. The codebase is an open-source DHT crawler, meaning it indexes publicly available metadata from peer-to-peer networks. No actual video files—much less your precious “NEW NORMAL” or any other film—are stored here.

But hey, let’s assume for a moment that you even bothered to read the code (or understand the concept of a DHT) before firing off this takedown request. Spoiler alert: it’s obvious you did not. The link you provided (to btdig.com) is simply a torrent search index, and it has exactly nothing to do with the contents of this repository beyond referencing a public DHT. Yes, that is how the internet and peer-to-peer file-sharing services function.

If you truly believe some random search results are my fault, perhaps consider the fundamentals of modern technology, or maybe consult a legal professional who understands how distributed systems work. In other words, this is not the place to whine about your so-called “illegal downloads.” An open-source project is not your personal censorship machine.

Therefore, we will not be removing anything.
If you need to blame someone for your film floating around torrent sites, try your distribution and anti-piracy strategy instead of picking fights with open-source developers. It’s less embarrassing for everyone involved.

We suggest you invest your time and resources into understanding how the internet functions rather than sending out vacuous demands.

Ciao.
