404 when clicking "Edit this Page"

I am using Boostlook with Antora in Decimal: https://github.com/cppalliance/decimal. At the bottom of each documentation page (https://develop.decimal.cpp.al/decimal/overview.html) there's a link for "Edit this Page" that leads to a 404.

More nefarious behavior was reported on the ML:

I am able to navigate, scroll up and down with arrow keys, page
up/down,
and space.
I am using a state of the art (I am told), documentation format
(Antora).

All I can say is that it doesn't work for me on Firefox, my default
browser. It does work on Chromium, so this could be a browser
incompatibility issue or a conflict with one of my browser extensions.

I confirm the bad behaviour with Firefox LTS.

Also, the root cause seems to be a css issue with the "edit this page"
link at the bottom (i haven't done css in a long time to know how to fix
it, though). Removing it from the dom solves the issue for me.

Hey Matt, I looked into this. Can you remove the branches: HEAD line from the playbook and rebuild again?

So strange, my first thought was because the repo was first in the cppalliance and now boostorg org.

I'd like to avoid hardcoding a branch. If you change the branches to develop, does it fix itself?

With the PR merged:

On the boostorg website the 404 is gone: https://www.boost.org/doc/libs/develop/libs/decimal/doc/html/overview.html
On the CPPA website the button is still there with the 404: https://develop.decimal.cpp.al/overview.html

This issue was originally opened before decimal had been moved over to boostorg.

"edit this page" goes to the HEAD branch, which github doesn't like.

Previews are built on Jenkins. In that environment is the local checkout "HEAD" or "develop"?

In the directory where it's built, the branch is "HEAD".

However, after decimal becomes part of boost, the official docs, including master and develop branches, will be available on boost.org and so https://develop.decimal.cpp.al/overview.html becomes obsolete.

boost.org builds are run by circleci and release-tools.

There, for whatever reason, "edit this page" is missing.

The issue could be renamed to be "why doesn't release-tools generating edit page links".

One idea could be to hardcode the branch as 'develop' and see what happens.

Was (2) attempted? As an experiment.
