Steps To Reproduce

  1. Unlock bitwarden desktop or browser (chrome) extension
  2. Attempt to type
  3. Keyboard input no longer works

Expected Result

Keyboard input should continue functioning normally after an unlock or an autofill

Actual Result

Keyboard input doesn't work again until a full system restart

Screenshots or Videos

No response

Additional Context

I've come across a couple past reports of this from years ago (see #1535 and community forum issue) but only just started encountering it myself in the last few days—more consistently than noted in either of those issues and without any of the workarounds like pressing F1 or manually interacting with form fields working.

I'm on Windows 11 Pro 24H2 Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.36.0
Chrome 131.0.6778.86
Bitwarden:

Version 2024.11.2
Shell 32.1.1
Renderer 128.0.6613.137
Node 20.17.0
Architecture x64

I'm unlocking Bitwarden via Windows Hello biometrics and running into this issue as soon as I unluck either the desktop app or the Chrome extension, and regardless of whether I get it to autofill anything.

Affecting me too, any windows hello method initiates this keyboard issue (face/fingerpint/pin).

I'm also having this issue in Windows 11 Hello. The keyboard becomes completely unusable systemwide until a full reboot.

The alt key was not released, Click the left and right alt key once to temporarily restore keyboard input.

Also seeing the same issue. Agree that Alt key is being held. Am able to release it by Ctrl+Alt+Del and then just Esc out of the menu. Will try the L-Alt + R-Alt next time.

Nice! Confirming that L/R Alt press and Ctrl + Alt + Del are both working on my end as well as a temporary workaround.
