8 bit support merge ?

Is there any chance you merge your 8-bit and 16-bit branch and make a release soon ?

That would be super useful!

On top of that, maybe #24 is ready as well ?

I merge the 8and16it branch, and released bigvolumeviewer-0.4.0

I don't have enough time at the moment to look into #24 unfortunately
