[Feature Request] Please add a way to manually sort entries on the gamelist. #1762

Why don’t you rename the names in the metadata with whatever makes sense to you? |
I just don't thinks it's aesthetically pleasing to do so. I also don't think changing the name makes sense. Zelda II was called that deliberately. Renaming the game to "The Legend of Zelda II" just to launch the game and see the real title wouldn't feel right. |
So, in short, I believe it's more pleasing if the name appears as it does in the title screen and the game box, while maintaining the games organized as you would in, say, a shelf or something like that. Zelda II is still called Zelda II, and it comes after The Legend of Zelda :) |
Hello, |
I also use this feature extensively in my retropie build on my pi4. I also love that batocera allows me to re-use the gamelists and artwork I spent forever building there, but was surprised to see that my gamelists weren't displaying in the order I'd hoped (Street Fighter Alpha: Warrior's Dreams after Street Fighter Alpha 2 and 3, for example). It's more important to me to leave the names exactly as they should be than it is for them to be in the "right" order, but the feature that retropie has allows us OCD-ish folks to have our cake and eat it too (have both titles AND order be right). It's a bummer we can't do the same here. |
Issue description
Hello. I would like to ask for a way to manually sort games.
There's lot's of games tha end up in weird positions within the gamelist. Games like "The Legend of Zelda" and "Zelda II: The Adventure of Link" end up apart when, ideally, they would end up next to each other. "Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain" and "Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver" also end up apart. The Castlevania trilogy on GBA ends up wrong. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow appears first on the list but it was the last of the trilogy. Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II and Mortal Kombat 3 also appear ou of order. There are more examples. But that could be easily corrected if a way to manually sort the entries in the gamelist existed.
So, add a way for the users to make their gameslists tidier please.
