SMS - Address book autocompletion/synchronization

I don't use a google address book.
It would be nice to either sync the android address books directly, because that would work for everyone, or to allow some other e.g. caldav source (I use davical, many people use e.g. nextcloud).

Opening this because it wasn't discussed in the fork.

I check the KDEConnect source and it will bring sync contact of the phone via DBus, i prefer to wait for it.

You can follow development here and here, it will be up to the KDE Connect developers to decide when it's stable and ready to be merged.

In case no one's watching as closely, the developers have merged this into master now and it should be in the next Android + Desktop releases. Be cautious with your expectations though, it's a big multi-part feature so there's going to be some bugs to iron out.

The good news for your project is there will be a UI for SMS/Contacts, so you shouldn't need to do anything but add a menu item. I'm not certain but I think it's an executable (not DBus method) to open the window, so you'd just have to spawn a process or something.

I too don't use Google service for contacts, so when it prompted me to allow access to my google account for contact sync, was rather alarming D:

Now when you try to sync contacts, google returns this error:

Sign in with Google temporarily disabled for this app
This app has not been verified yet by Google in order to use Google Sign In.
