I want the linting

I want warnings for these things. I've added many rules to the Ignore list, and I use inline ignore. But this is a different issue. If Ruff were human, it would need treatment for hypervigilance. So, where are Ruff's anxiolytic settings?

I assume you're using select=["ALL"] and you ignore a selection of rules. This can work, but it's sort of expected that you have to disable many rules if you don't care about the more opinionated ones. A better start would be to use ruff's, default and opt in to a few selected categories that you know you care about.

We also plan on improving the default rule set as part of #1774

Side note: I don't think your chosen form of raising this concern is very respectful to us maintainers and also makes it difficult to help because you aren't asking or proposing anything. I do get where you're coming from but I think there are many other forms you could have chosen to raise the same concern that would have been more productive.

Explaining humor is inherently not funny.

I don't want to disable those three rules. I disable the rules I don't want. I like the tool, and it is improving my code.

Nevertheless, a diagnostic warning that "Blank line contains whitespace" is not useful when I start writing a new line.

Concrete suggestions

1. Ruff is surprisingly comprehensive, therefore, it's my belief that some settings already exist that I would want to use.
2. Ruff is obviously developed by professional programmers who understand programming, linting, and programming a linter far better than I understand those things.
3. Therefore, I believe I did not find the "anxiolytic" settings because of my ignorance about what to look for.
4. My best idea is stupid: add a delay on reporting new diagnostics. In general, I don't want a delay, so that idea is silly.

I don't think it's stupid. The (now deprecated) ruff-lsp has a setting to lint on save or on every keystroke. This setting was removed from the new language server (ruff server) but we've had at least one request to add it (#15991 (comment)). Maybe it might be useful to add it.
