Empirical-Driven chart recommendation requires a lot of verified and applicable visualization rules. Thus we conduct a comprehensive survey for visual designers and engineers, and summarize their feedback into the Rules component.
We collect two types of visual rules, one is for being Aesthetic and another for Correct. Those rules are used to output a proper chart or fix a giving chart. Both input and output charts are defined by G2Plot.
The employed pipelines of AVA Rules are as follows:
Besides, we found for specific visual exploration tasks, professional designers and analysts may require to use their own design experience instead of the pre-defined rules. For such users, we also provide the ability to customize their own rules.
