Examples composite materials

Hi, I am Riccardo Manno and I have started working in Ansys (application engineer) few months ago.
I have generated some pymapdl example on delamination of composite material using cohesive zone modelling.
I have also implemented some multiscale modelling techniques using pymapdl to get homogenous composite properties (RVE computational homogenisation). Would these be of any use?

I did my PhD in computational homogenization.... I would love to see an example on that in PyMAPDL. 😄

@germa89, I might have missed some updates as I was away but I think @rmanno91 is just waiting for the PyMAPDL CI/CD to work when using PyDPF, otherwise the examples are ready to be posted. In a meeting @akaszynski mentioned another solution would be to create another repo and that guidelines would be shared for that. So I'm not sure what's the best option here.

What to do with the examples (and more specifically with the tech demos) is a concern of mine.

I think the best way will be to do a separate repo for these examples, then we won't have static examples. Everything will be dynamic. But I am a bit afraid of having such long running examples (hours/days) on the CICD. Specially if you run them locally to "check", then first time you clone, and run the docs, you will end up running all the examples of the repo. That is not good. (This could be solved using this: sphinx-gallery/sphinx-gallery#321 (comment))

Other option is to keep them static, and having two notebooks, the one for the web rendering, and the one for the user/client (downloadable). We still have the risk of having docs outdated though.

Other option is a repo per example, and each repo build their html which you later link. So many repos are going to be a mess at the organization level. But you could then create another organization. Anyway, still the issues of long running examples on the CICD.

[Also thinking out loud] I think there are several separate topics :

• What to do with examples that use a combination of packages ? Some of these examples might run extremely fast, but the problem with them is that several PyAnsys packages are used. That was the problem in this example (https://mapdl.docs.pyansys.com/examples/technology_showcase_examples/techdemo-20/20-example-technology-showcase-dynamic-simulation-PCB.html#tech-demo-20): runs fast, but shows use of several packages. It seems a solution was found for this scenario as now the PyDPF code is uncommented and images are rendered -> will this work for any new example or is this an exception that required some additional tweaks?
• What to do with bigger examples that take a long time to run (I have a buckling and postbuckling example coming your way that does take several hours) -> For those we can't afford to run them all the time of course.
• And finally there will be the case of big examples using several packages which might fall into another category.
