[BUG] Self-inviting to workspace demotes owner to Member role #43922

Description

@lhmrlzh

Description

When a workspace owner invites themselves (using their own email address) to their own workspace, their role is silently downgraded from Admin to Member. This causes a complete loss of workspace management capabilities with no way to recover through the UI.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a workspace as admin
  2. Navigate to workspace settings and invite a new member using your own email address (the same email associated with your account)
  3. Accept the invitation
  4. Check your role in the workspace

Expected Behavior

  • The self-invite should be rejected (owner is already a member), OR
  • The owner's Admin role should remain unchanged after accepting

Actual Behavior

  • Owner's role is silently changed from "Admin" to "Member"
  • Owner can no longer manage the workspace (add/remove members, change settings, etc.)
  • No UI option to recover admin privileges

Impact

This is a critical issue. The workspace owner completely loses administrative control with no self-service recovery path. The only recourse is contacting support.

Environment

  • Platform: OpenCode Zen (opencode.ai)
  • Feature: Workspace member management
