[FEATURE]: Git visibility in new tabs layout (Desktop app)

Describe the enhancement you want to request

Updated to the latest version of the desktop app and toggled to the "New layout" in the settings but I was hoping for a feature to show current git branch or a dropdown similar to the model, agent and reasoning to change the current branch from within the GUI? Something like the screenshot attached?

They are similar to the issue #19433 and #18015 however they are referencing the web UI and the TUI - this is specific to the GUI/Desktop app
