RAJA is an open source C++ portability API created by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory used in HPC software development to provide performant abstraction across a variety of CPU and GPU architectures. More information about RAJA can be found on github.
The RAJA docker recipe provides an environment with RAJA installed into /opt/raja.
RAJAPerf is also installed with the docker recipe, at /opt/rajaperf.
The RAJAPerf benchmarks has been added to the environment, and can be executed as below.
RAJA has a affiliated repository RAJAPerf containing a number of benchmarks derived from real-world computational physics applications. It is commonly used as a "how-to" guide for using RAJA and acts as a quick and easy to use benchmark suite for measuring GPU performance across a wide variety of kernels.
RAJAPerf's benchmarks can be executed on any combination of serial CPU execution, OpenMP, HIP, and RAJA policies. To explicitly run the benchmark suite on GPUs for the HIP and RAJA implementations, we can use the call
./raja-perf.exe -v Base_HIP RAJA_HIP
Additional options can be queried with the --help flag.
This will generate several output CSV files, Prepended with RAJAPerf-.
The timing-Average and fom will contain the details about performance of each of the kernels.
The speedup-Average compares the raja kernels against the hip kernels for performance.
