Amber is a suite of biomolecular simulation programs. It began in the late 1970's, and is maintained by an active development community.
The term Amber refers to two things:
- A set of molecular mechanical force fields for the simulation of biomolecules (these force fields are in the public domain, and are used in a variety of simulation programs).
- A package of molecular simulation programs which includes source code and demos.
AMD/HIP support is now available as a part of official release on Amber24. To download the source code for Amber24 visit The Amber Projects Download page. The instruction for building and running Amber24 with HIP support is available under section 2.2.3 of Amber 24 Reference Manual.
