Project Renaming

I dislike the name of this project and wanted to change it at some point.
In a lack of ideas, I figured that doing some kind of brainstorming here might be easier.
It'd be cool to have a logo in the future as well.

Ideas:

• Bagit 🎩🥖 - Like baguette, but git, and almost Magit. This name seems taken by some business.

OTHER DISCLAIMER: I'm not sure I'd suggest that any of these are good, just trying to help inspire something or help you decide that maybe gitu isn't that bad. 😉

• gitu

  Honestly, not a bad name from my perspective, it's easy to type and say, and unique. Maybe if you don't like the sound of the name you could riff on this a bit more: gitsu, gitfu.

• Fettle

  v. trim or clean the rough edges of (a metal casting or a piece of pottery) before firing.

  Playing with the "porcelain" idea.

• Sinter

  v. (with reference to a powdered material) coalesce into a solid or porous mass by means of heating (and usually also compression) without liquefaction

  Rust/metal + crafting/combining to produce a coalesced/final thing.

• Kiri

  Shortened form of kirigami, the Japanese papercraft that involves folding and cutting.

  Git work feels it has parallels to cutting and folding. Other options in the vein of refining (cutting, folding, discarding, etc.):

  • pare
  • hone
  • tuck

• There is a "standalone" magit script called smagit, which I pronounce as "sma jit" and it reminds me of the word s'more, maybe something in the vein of sweet treats?

  • Nougit (nougat)
  • Tiragitsu (tiramisu, shortened to "gitsu")
  • Gitlato (gelato)

• In British English "git" is derogatory term, in a more positive vein how about something related to someone who is uplifting/helpful/mentor-like:

  • sage
  • magus

• If looking at git as a record/marker (e.g. history/tags):

  • Cairn
  • Etch
  • Waypoint
