It is possible to attempt custom resolutions that the monitor does not report, as per wdisplays.

No UX change would be needed, however extra output manager sets and error handling are.

I would love to see this feature. For reasons I want to use vulkan instance layering to create, in effect, several virtual wayland displays. These can be set to custom resolutions using wdisplays as you are aware, and that works as intended, but as a GUI tool it's fairly useless/inflexible in practice for this purpose.

As such, please consider this gentle encouragement if you feel like working on a new feature. :)
