In der folgenden Arbeit wird die Inflationtheorie der Monetaristen näher betrachtet.
Dazu wird der Fokus vor allem auf die Quantitätstheorie und die verschiedenen Formen der Quantitätsgleichungen gelegt. Die Inflationstheorie der Monetaristen stützt sich zu großen Teilen auf diese Grundprinzipien. Deshalb wird zuerst die Historie und die Funktionsweise der Quantitätstheorie erläutert.
Im Anschluss werden dann verschiedene Annahmen erklärt, welche im Rahmen der Quantitätsgleichungen vorgenommen werden, um diese von einem guten theoretischen Konzept zu einem in der Realität nutzbaren Apparat zu machen. Sobald nun auf Basis der Quantitätsgleichung die Inflationstheorie erklärt werden konnte wird am Ende noch eine kritische Würdigung anhand eines realen Vorfalls durch Paul Krugman vorgenommen. Somit ist es möglich eine differenziertere Betrachtung der Stärken und Schächen dieser Theorie zu erhalten. \\
Vorab werden nun bereits hier einige Informationen zum Monetarismus zusammengetragen:
Der Monetarismus ist eine wirtschaftstheoretische Konzeption, welche im Gegensatz zu dem nachfrageorientierten Keynesianismus steht. Für einen Monetaristen stellt die Regulierung der Geldmenge die wichtigste Stellschraube in der in der Steuerung des Wirtschaftsablaufs dar. Es gilt also die Devise:

Zusätzlich zu dem angebotsorientierten Monetarismus und dem nachfrageorientierten Keynesianismus gibt es noch andere Inflationstheorien, welche im Rahmen dieser Arbeit allerdigns keine Rolle spielen.
