Hello Enrico or whomever is reading this. thank you for making this, I really like X11 and it made me sad that it is basically being forced out due to how reliable it is, not to mention all the desktop environments that would get abandoned due to it's deprecation. Sincerely thank you a lot
However I do have a single concern about the project, that being this: Will XLibre just end up being the political opposite of the original project? Will it actually be for all in the end? Sorry if I sound condescending, not my intention, just hoping it will truly be an apolitical project at the end of the day.
Also, will there ever be a Matrix channel for the XLibre project? I don't want to use Telegram as I do not trust their service. Matrix is decentralised so if matrix.org bans the channel it might be possible to find a homeserver on Matrix that is willing to accept the project.
Thank you again for forking this, I wish you guys luck that this will become a proper alternative to Wayland.

Please use XMPP instead. Harder to spam and easier to moderate. Matrix has issues with spammers and CP uploaders and it harms users and servers because their method to handle file uploads is atrocious. Or just use IRC.

I second @lokrok's response. Matrix is horribly impractical. Matrix servers that know about you will never stop trying to send requests to you even if you shut down/move (you will DDoS yourself). Plus the aforementioned moderation problems. XMPP is a much more mature and lightweight protocol

IRC, yes. You can have a public log like how the ircs://irc.libera.chat/scheme Scheme channel has http://snailgeist.com/irc-logs. That way people would never miss a message.

Well we can always try to run self hosted jits server its a video chat room , which too opensource, matrix chat is not bad, may be even revolt , which too opensource can be a selfhosted server.
More over what is important that we collaborate on principles of cooperation and partnership, me i am interested heavy into DRM (direct rendering manager and the The Direct Rendering Infrastructure, also known as the DRI)

It's not even a slapfight. While I think Matrix has critical issues that make it unusable, what should be used is what makes sense for a project, and that is honestly IRC. As much as I am a fan of XMPP and argued for it earlier, Matrix requires an account, XMPP does too for the most part (but anonymous account services exist), but you can just choose a nickname for IRC and chat easy. Anybody who wants to use a different service can use bridges or gateways. I, for instance, use Prosody with Biboumi for IRC as I am an XMPP user.

If we do want to debate XMPP vs Matrix, it is much easier to host a Prosody (or ejabberd) server than a Matrix one, and a lot easier on moderation.

I'm no ultra-conservative, in fact I'd consider myself left leaning on quite a lot of topics
this project is OPEN and FREE for all people, on all sides of the political spectrum, not being an extreme leftist shouldn't mean you're not allowed to be a part of an open source project, politics should be pushed to the side and everyone should be allowed to participate no matter who they are.
A lot of people here I may not fully agree with on anything ang that's fine because as long as we all focus on the project itself none of that matters.

Having IRC channel on LiberaChat is great but this should be mentioned somewhere, like in the README.
