mod_rewrite on ionos/1und1-server

Cannot say, if the following is an issue.

I installed WCMS into an subdomain (subdomain.domain.com) on a small managed server by IONOS/1und1. Out-of-the-box the server seems to have a problem with the standard rewrite rules. I could access the existing pages only with the "index.php?page=somepage". After I added "RewriteBase /" immediately after "RewriteEngin on" to the standard htaccess, it worked. At least for me.
