WolvSec Onboarding

READ THIS ENTIRELY BEFORE JOINING THE DISCORD SERVER!
Welcome to the WolvSec CTF team!

About

WolvSec is primarily a CTF team for anyone affiliated with the University of Michigan and Ann Arbor. The team is open to alumni, staff, students, professors and all Michiganders! We mostly compete on two platforms:

Goals

  • Increase computer security skills at the University of Michigan by participating in CTF competitions
  • Create a worldwide University of Michigan computer security community
  • Improve reputation of University of Michigan in computer security industry
  • Provide applied vulnerability research capabilities to Michigan businesses

Community Rules

  • Do not use your knowledge of computer security to engage in or discuss illegal activities (abuse, cracking, pirating, hacktivism, ...)
  • Do not discriminate or engage in hate speech against anyone or any group (ethnicity, gender, religion, ...) on any platform
  • Do not post or use profile pictures that are pornographic, explicit, contain nudity or sexual innuendos (bikinis, nudes, hentai, ...) on our Discord server.
  • Do not post or discuss material related to the use of alcohol, illegal drugs or narcotics.
  • Please limit the use of swear words in any language
  • Trolling is allowed in the #off-topic channel

Requirements

  • Desire to self teach
  • Laptop
  • Basic programming skills

Team

Leadership

Leadership of the team is assumed by current students at the University of Michigan. If you want to get involved, please e-mail [email protected]

Going Blue

We are here primarily for fun and learning so no stress. But if you want to make Michigan go blue :)

  • Never post or share flags
  • Never open hints if there are point penalties
  • Just solve one challenge
  • Specialize in one category (we still need crypto and pwning experts!)

Meetups

The team consists of people in and out of Ann Arbor, therefore we connect on Discord. When many of us are in proximity, we may organize a meetup! Feel free to add your meetup to this list:

  • Dearborn: TBD
  • Ann Arbor: Every Monday at 6 pm. We are still looking for a recurring location. Follow announcements for location.
  • Staff: University of Michigan, Michigan Medicine and Merit Networks staff meet Tuesdays and Thursday at building 777. Mostly staff, but open to anyone.
  • San Francisco: TBD
  • Seattle: TBD
