Pinged users not displaying at textarea

I have a list of items with a "read more" button. Each of these open up a modal with their specific data and displays the comments below it. All works except the pinged users that dont display at the textarea when using the "@" sign, it places it somewhere at the top of the modal or out of the screen.

Is this a bug or am I missing something ?
