ABCD and DwC (and ABCD-EFG) - Compare and discuss #35
Comments
Walter Berendsohn says yes. Quote:
I replied that fall would be just fine and to please send some potential dates. |
The focus of an ABCD DwC Hour might be along the lines of (1) origin, history, motivation and purpose for creating the ABCD, (2) new features with the upcoming version 3, https://abcd.biowikifarm.net/wiki/, (3) complementarity with Darwin Core, (4) mapping to Darwin Core including perhaps terms missing in respectively DwC/ABCD, (5) user communities for ABCD (including BioCASE) versus user groups for Darwin Core, (6) extensions to ABCD, ... Holetschek J, Dröge G, Güntsch A & Berendsohn WG (2012) The ABCD of primary biodiversity data access, Plant Biosystems - An International Journal Dealing with all Aspects of Plant Biology, 146:4, 771-779, DOI: 10.1080/11263504.2012.740085 http://www.biocase.org/products/schema_repository/ |
This Darwin Core Hour, now in process, likely to be either the second or third week of March 2020. |
I should point out (and perhaps we do need a different ticket), considering the proposed Darwin Core Hour in motion will be about BioCASe (including GGBN Gabriele D. and ABCD standards leader David Fitchmeuller). But will not necessarily focus on EFG. |
Deb is reaching out to Dimitris Koureas and Wouter Addink. Dag is talking with Walter Berendsohn and Jurg Holtcheck. The the exact focus to be decided.
